Well, 2011 has been a fucking monstrous year for us here at Top End Terror – huge touring acts, great local festivals, and a really strong, vibrant local scene full of fucking awesome bands. With the help and support of the Happy Yess we’ve been able to do a lot of great things in Darwin, and we’re ever thankful for the continued support of the crowds and volunteers at all our gigs.

After The Big Sleep in late November, things will be dying off over the wet season and Christmas as the Yess closes up for a bit and everyone ditches town. Next year, we’re hoping to take a different direction with gigs and touring acts, and refocus our attention. As a result, our regular metal gigs will no longer be quite so regular – with more attention given to our larger shows such as TerrorFest, HEAVYbyHEAVY, Bastardfest as well as new, as-yet unannounced shows.

This will leave a bit of a gap in the year’s gig calendar that we hope the local metal bands will fill by organizing and booking their own gigs. With the variety of venues around town, both licensed and unlicensed, who are increasingly open to metal, it shouldn’t be a problem for them. And of course this website will remain a resource for all things heavy in the Territory – we’ll continue to keep things updated with upcoming metal and rock gigs.
